Esta Lestari, Siwage D. Negara, dan M. Soekarni KETERKAITAN PASAR MODAL INDONESIA DENGAN SEKTOR RIIL DAN PASAR MODAL GLOBALThe relationship between stock market development and the economy has long been studied. However, there is a growing concern about dis-connection between stock market development and real sector development. Real sector does not seem to be affected by the movement in the stock market. Moreover, interconnection among stock markets around the world has increased dramatically due to the force of globalization in the financial market. Consequently, the domestic stock market movement is highly dependent on the dynamic in the international stock market. This paper attempts to analyze those two important phenomena. First, does stock market development have a significant effect on the economy? Second, how significant is the impact of the movement in the US stock market on the Indonesian stock market. Results show that stock market development has a significant effect on the economy and the US stock market has a significant influence on the domestic stock market.
Latif Adam dan Maxensius Tri Sambodo INVESTASI DAN PERDAGANGAN LUAR NEGERI: Dinamika Globalisasi dan Perannya dalam Pertumbuhan EkonomiThis paper discusses investment and international trade in the context of globalization. It examines how efforts of the Indonesian Government to adapt to the increasing globalization by liberalizing investment and international trade made these two sector play an increasing role in contributing to the Indonesian economic growth. However, the paper also indicated that the contribution of investment and international trade to economic growth is lower than consumption. Moreover, the contribution of investment and international trade to the Indonesian economic growth is not as high as those in several Asian countries. This may be because the competitiveness of Indonesian investment climate and Indonesian product in the international market is still relatively low. Possible solution to increase competitiveness is to have comprehensive action plan to address the issues of macroeconomic condition, law enforcement, bureaucracy, infrastructure, and human resources.
Agus Syarip Hidayat ASEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY (AEC): PELUANG DAN TANTANGAN BAGI INDONESIAThis research focuses on the discussion about the effect of free flow of goods scheme under ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) framework on Indonesia’s trade activities in ASEAN level. On one hand, implementation of free flow of goods AEC would provide opportunities for expanding and intensifying Indonesia’s export to ASEAN member countries. Export intensification to ASEAN is very important because up to now Indonesia’s trade intensity with ASEAN member countries has been smaller than that the average of intra trade ASEAN. Among 12 sectors priority of free flow of goods AEC, Indonesia has comparative advantages in 6 sectors, which are agriculture products, electronics, fisheries, rubber-based goods, wood-based products and textiles and clothing. The efforts to expand and intensify export to ASEAN market would give optimum result if it is accompanied by promoting cooperation among industries in ASEAN through regional production network. On the other hand, free flow of goods AEC would also become a threat for Indonesia’s industries and domestic market if businessmen as well as government have not prepared yet for this new era competition in ASEAN. Since ASEAN member countries produce almost similar products, the challenge for businessmen is to produce competitive products based on differentiation, efficiency and innovation. For government, at least there are four basic issues, which are infrastructure improvement, monetary policy (high interest rate), fiscal policy (double tax, “illegal taxes”, investment permission), labor (minimum wage policy) that have to be addressed comprehensively and immediately in order to help businessmen in increasing their product competitiveness.
Latif Adam, Jusmaliani, Maxensius Tri Sambodo, Purwanto, Esta Lestari, Tuti ErmawatiANALISIS FAKTOR-FAKTOR PENENTU KONSUMSI BBM MASYARAKAT DI SEKTOR TRANSPORTASIThe study is on the analysis of the determining factors of fuel oil’s (BBM) consumption of the community in transportation sector. This study aims to examine the impact of the price policy of energy (BBM) in the transportation sector through the analysis approach of factors that influenced the household’s consumption of BBM, and sensitivity price towards the change in the pattern of consumption of BBM. The idea of conducting this research is because the price of BBM in Indonesia is still receiving the subsidy from the government. However the government had an effort to carry out the price rationalisation of BBM in the long term as efforts to develop national’s energy security so as there will be a price adjustment of energy periodically. The results of this research recommended that the price adjustment of energy in order to minimise the impact of the price increase of energy for the economic activity could be carried out with several steps in the strategy and the policy. The strategy in increasing the public transport’s services, the improvement of the macro transport pattern, exact targeted subsidy, was several recommendations that could be followed that directly or indirectly will influence the welfare of the community because it can increase efficiency of transport cost and the mechanism of the targeted subsidy for the group’s low and middle community.

Besides, SMEs represent an important part of its business system and many industrial areas are clearly dominant. Although small and medium-sized enterprizes operate in almost all industries, they differ greatly in their nature and importance, however, it is vary from industry to industry and from country to country. Similarly, definitions and descriptions of SMEs differ among countries in the world. There are many ministries and agencies are involved in assisting the development of SMEs, however in government view, there are two division of SMEs namely Ministry of Trade (MoT) in one side, and Ministry of Labour (MoL) in other side. MoT refers to capital, and MoL refers to worker. However, according to a new law on June 10, 2008, the definition of SMEs was similar in which the micro finance is the capital less Rp. 50 m, without land and buliding or the sales maximum ID 300 t; while small is the capital Rp. 50-500 t, and the sales of ID 300m-2,5t, and the medium entreprises was the capital of ID ½ million to 10 triliun.
M. Soekarni, Firmansyah, M. Thoha, Sairi Erfanie, Toerdin S. Usman dan Yeni SaptiaPOTENSI DAN PERAN ZAKAT DALAM MENGURANGI KEMISKINANReferring to Islamic history, zakah has played important role in creating socio-economic welfare.
