Selected Topics on Biotechnology as Indonesian Country Reports is purposely chosen as the title of this compiled information to illustrate the part of my participation in several regional biotechnology activities through seminar or workshops. Within the program of each seminar or workshops the Indonesian participants represented by the authors or co-authors, were requested to present their country report on the respective theme of the regional gatherings. I selectively have chosen themes between 1988 up to 2000 to put together in this bundle of publication in order to firstly illustrate how broad the biotechnology is and how far the authors of each article were concerned up to the certain frame of time of seminar/workshop presentation. Secondly this publication hopefully will function as a track record on the development of biotechnology at large during the last decade of the 20-th century in Indonesia. I am very sure many other publications on this great area of biotechnology in Indonesia exist and these selected topics would be complementary to those publications. Last but not least my sincere thanks to Professor Umar A. Jenie, chairman of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) who has been giving strong support for possible publication by the LIPI Press.
